Fundraising for Alcohol Research UK, Dry January, 31st January 2025
Heavy Christmas and I need a rest!
We work to significantly reduce alcohol harm in the UK by: funding, commissioning and sharing research; working to ensure more and better support and treatment; encouraging better policy and regulation; shifting drinking cultures through our campaigns; and working to change drinking behaviours by providing advice and information.
31st January 2025
Dry January is a public health campaign encouraging people to abstain from alcohol for the entire month of January. It was launched in 2013 by the UK charity Alcohol Change UK to promote healthier habits, improve wellbeing, and raise awareness about the effects of alcohol consumption. Participants often report benefits like improved sleep, better focus, weight loss, and financial savings. The campaign has grown globally, with many using it as an opportunity to reset their relationship with alcohol or reduce their intake long-term.
